Why the Flight Goal of 37 for this Spring Campaign? Ryan Westerman, for whom the non-profit was founded in his legacy, was a young Calgary father of two small children, passed away at the age of
37 from brain cancer. Give A Mile has proudly funded over 1,100 flights for someone to have a last visit with their dying loved one which has impacted thousands of people in 151 countries since 2013.
Over the course of the Spring months, April, May and June 2024, Give A Mile is hosting 10 different events to raise miles and cash to not only help dying people be surrounded by love in their final days, but also to impact the bereaved
as they go on to live their lives having benefited from the profound experience of being with someone at the end.
GET OUT, GET ACTIVE, GET GIVING!
At Give A Mile, we’re on a mission to make sure no one dies alone. Established in 2013, Give a Mile was inspired by the passing of Ryan Westerman, a young Calgary father who died from brain cancer. In the weeks leading up to his passing, Ryan was surrounded by friends and family and had the opportunity to create moments and make memories that would live on past his final days. His best friend, Kevin Crowe, was grateful for the opportunity he and others had to spend time with Ryan and found their own lives transformed by the experience. That experience inspired Kevin to create Give A Mile. Give A Mile is a registered non-profit organization in both the United States and Canada. Give A Mile has proudly funded more than 1,000 flights of compassion, reaching 151 countries.
