Watch Duty provides trusted, real-time disaster information that helps millions of people make faster and safer decisions during wildfires, floods, and other emergencies. Powered by technology and a trained team working around the clock, Watch Duty transforms complex emergency information into clear, actionable alerts for communities and first responders across all 50 states.

How your miles help

When you donate miles, you help Watch Duty respond faster, strengthen public safety partnerships, and better serve communities before, during, and after disasters.

Your miles help our team:

  • Travel to active disaster zones to support real-time operations and improve how emergency information is delivered during critical incidents.
  • Attend first responder and emergency management conferences to educate frontline professionals about Watch Duty and gather feedback that helps strengthen our tools and services.
  • Host community preparedness events and User Conferences that bring together residents, firefighters, emergency managers, and public safety leaders.
  • Support staff travel for strategic planning meetings, trainings, and team retreats that help strengthen coordination across our nationally distributed organization.
  • Build deeper relationships with local communities and public safety partners nationwide.

As disasters become more frequent and severe, access to trusted information can save lives. Watch Duty helps people, families, first responders, small businesses, and communities stay informed and better prepared when every second counts.

About us

Watch Duty is a nonprofit public-safety platform delivering trusted, real-time information during disasters. We combine advanced technology with a trained network of human analysts to monitor tens of thousands of signals—from emergency radio traffic and satellite data to agency updates—transforming them into timely and clear alerts people can act on. In 2025, more than 16.8 million people relied on Watch Duty during major wildfire incidents. At peak demand, we handled up to 100,000 requests per second without interruption. Our service is used by residents, first responders, and emergency managers alike, providing a shared source of situational awareness when it matters most. As we serve the entire U.S. and add new hazards, airline miles directly support our ability to deploy teams, strengthen partnerships, and reach communities in crisis. Recognized by TIME, Fast Company, and Apple, Watch Duty is building critical infrastructure to help people stay safe when every second counts.
