Help The Trevor Project Save Young LGBTQ Lives

The Trevor Project's mission is to end suicide among LGBTQ young people. We invite MileagePlus members to join us in achieving this mission 50 years after the first Pride march in 1970.

A flagship program of The Trevor Project's Advocacy team is 50 Bills 50 States — our grassroots movement to ban the discredited practice of conversion therapy on minors. Conversion therapy attempts to change an LGBTQ person's gender identity or sexual orientation using pain and/or shame therapy. Youth who’ve undergone conversion therapy are more than twice as likely to attempt suicide as those who did not.

As of June 2020, 20 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico have passed legislation outlawing the practice of conversion therapy on minors.

We partner with mental health associations, LGBTQ groups, and faith communities in every state by sharing stories and informing policymakers to pass powerful legislation. Our Advocacy team travels to meet with state, district, civic and local leaders to effect policy changes that will protect LGBTQ minors from traumatizing practices. The Trevor Project's Director of Public Training also supports our mission by traveling to meet with corporate and youth-facing leaders to increase LGBTQ allyship. Our Education team leads interactive discussions about LGBTQ allyship with some of the most recognizable brands in entertainment, retail and travel. Your donation will advance our work to increase effective LGBTQ allyship and support LGBTQ mental health at the highest levels.

We hope you’ll join us in creating a culture that’s a true representation of our country's beautiful diversity. Together, we can save young lives and make the LGBTQ young people in this country feel worthy, valued, protected and proud.

About us

The Trevor Project estimates that more than 1.8 million LGBTQ youth seriously consider suicide every day in the U.S. As the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ youth, we take a holistic approach to achieving our mission of ending LGBTQ youth suicide. In addition to providing free, 24/7 crisis counseling to youth, our staff members travel to advance LGBTQ competency, literacy and adult-age allyship while championing legislation that protects LGBTQ minors.
