About us

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club of Newark (BGCN) is to enable all of Newark’s youth, especially those who need us most, to become caring, productive, and responsible citizens. BGCN has served youth aged 5-18 and their families for over 80 years through youth-centered afterschool programs and services. Our 33,000-square-foot main Clubhouse facility in the Central Ward is accessible to all Newark’s youth and as well as surrounding cities, particularly in Essex County. The facility houses a swimming pool, gymnasium, full-service kitchen, games room, Teen and Tween Centers, three classrooms, and a STEM Center. Year-round, BGCN offers different areas of program and service delivery including athletic development, dental care, and behavioral and mental health services to youth and their families.The core program offerings at BGCN include STEM, Triple Play, SMART Moves, Power Hour Homework.
