About us

Guide Dogs of America (GDA) and Tender Loving Canines (TLC) transform lives through partnerships with service dogs. Our hardworking dogs for people who are blind/visually impaired, veterans, individuals with autism, and facilities become trusted companions, bringing confidence, independence, and mobility. All programs and services at Guide Dogs of America - including transportation - are provided at no cost to our recipients. Many people may not realize that GDA-TLC bears the cost of transporting students from out of state to and from our school. Donated United award miles greatly benefit GDA-TLC by allowing us to defray much of our airline travel expenses. Additional travel needs include sending instructors to interview applicants and follow up with graduates, transporting dogs, maintaining our accreditation with the service dog industry, and engaging in public outreach.
